“My Resort 2014
collection is inspired by current modern abstract art, specifically the graphic
qualities of gestural brush strokes in the works of Nicholas Wilton, Kristy
Gammill, and Jenna Snyder-Phillips. Their modern takes on graphic shapes,
lines, wide stripes and color inspired some of the prints and fabrics in the
collection. These artists’ works — though modern — have vintage quality, which
helped to inspire some of the looks that recall the 1960s. I wanted the shapes
to feel fresh and youthful but still classic, elegant, and ladylike for my
customer. She wants to be well-dressed day-to-day, but comfortably so, and so
we have included more sportswear in this collection. In addition to our
signature cocktail looks, there are quite a few smart and fun separates for day
and evening that incorporate vibrant color: fuchsia, yellow, and purple.”
